The Swedish Fjord Horse Association (Svenska fjordhästföreningen), formed in 1961, is the official Swedish breeder association holding and managing the Swedish Fjord Horse Studbook. The association has 20 regional chapters, about 20 stud farms and is member of the Swedish Horse Breeder Association (Svenska hästavelsförbundet) and Fjord Horse International.
The main activities of the association are:
Plans and rules for breeding and evaluation.
Registry, Studbook and annual Stallion Catalogue (January).
Quarterly newsletter “Lill-Blakken”.
Annual General Meeting with representatives for the chapters (March).
Annual Swedish championship in jumping, dressage and driving (end July).
Annual stallion evaluation and licensing, as well as evaluation of 3 years old mares (mid September).
